Gates of Krynn Looking for Content Creators

#1

Hi all,

Gates of Krynn is a CoffeeMUD based on the CircleMUD Age of Dragons. It’s a Dragonlance themed game, post-War-of-the-Lance, which is rp encouraged and incentivised. The world is 11,000+ rooms, but so far we only have about 4,000 of them populated with mobs and item drops. I imported the map from Age of Dragons, but the mobs and objs need to be added manually.

We’re looking for people to assist us with creating and improving content. This could come in the form of improving existing zones, populating existing empty zones, creating new zones, creating quests, spicing up the religion/deity system, setting up the law systems in various zones (system in place, just needs implementing), creating role play opportunities with the players, and potentially other things that may come up.

As a CoffeeMUD it would definitely be an asset if you’re familiar with CoffeeMUD already. Almost everything can be done via web browser, using GUIs and ‘wizards’ as well as in game.

If you’re interested, please let me know in game or PM me here.

Thanks!

Gicker

If your into Dragonlance and building you should definetly drop in. I start here a few weeks ago and it has quickly become my top mud. Complex crafting, tons of skills and build variations.

Hrrmmm…
So you mean that you have downloaded zones and rooms
with descriptions and exits and so forth, but they are empty:
no mobs or objects?
If so - that sounds like a HUGE and interesting challenge.
I love building - unfourunately I know nothing about Dragonlance
or CoffeeMUD.

Is this down? The website works, but has a broken banner, and was unable to connect through Mushclient.

Yes, I imported the zones from an old Dragonlance MUD (Age of Dragons, still online), but the import script didn’t import mobs, objects or loading commands, just the rooms and room connections.

So the work that needs to be done is remaking the mobs and objects so they’re compatible with coffeemud mechanics, and then place those objs and mobs in the existing zones. I have a guide made up on how to do that, which basically involves setting up builders with a builder on the Age of Dragons builder port so they can see what mobs and objs need to be made, and then copy the descs, set the stats on CM (which is a very easy process) and then place them in the corresponding zones.

If you’re like me, and you’d rather be making mobs and objs than room descriptions, it’s got the fun part of building. But yeah, if that interests you, let me know and we can get you set up.

Cheers,

Hi Ortallus,

Thanks for letting me know. The server is back up.

Wouldn’t it be easier to fix/rework the import script to also import the mobs and objects?

Maybe, yeah. Certainly worth taking another look. Still would need to re-set the stats, but in terms of creating the obj/mob itself with descs, yeah it probably is worth looking at the script or a new script.
